There is just one game on Thursday as we usher in the second half of MLB action with the New York Mets facing the Philadelphia Phillies. Phillies DH Kyle Schwarber put on a show in the Home Run Derby on Monday night but came up just short as St. Louis Cardinals OF Jordan Walker stunned the Philly faithful in the final round. Schwarber leads the majors with 32 homers and looks to get started early as we go for the YRFI.

The lone game Thursday begins at 7:10 p.m. ET.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies YRFI (-150)

The Mets open the second half with RHP Christian Scott, who went 2-1 with a 3.17 ERA in the first half. He made the June 27 start in a 6-2 victory over the Phils, going 4 1/3 IP, allowing two earned runs and gave up a homer to Bryce Harper, who he'll likely see in the first inning. Scott has a 4.50 ERA in the first inning through 12 starts.

The Phillies counter with RHP Aaron Nola, who had a rocky first half at 3-6 with a 5.75 ERA. His first-inning ERA was better at 3.79, but he surrendered runs in the opening inning in three of his last five starts. One of those YRFIs was against these Mets, when he allowed two runs on June 18. Outfielder Juan Soto took him deep in the opening frame. He's 12-for-45 (.267) with five homers, three doubles, and 17 walks lifetime against Nola. We like the YRFI again in this one.

What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?

The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
