The Toronto Maple Leafs had a home game on Monday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. Toronto was looking to end its losing streak. However, Philadelphia took down the Maple Leafs by a final score of 3-2. The game ended in a shootout.
With the loss for Toronto, they now have a 27-24-10 record with 64 points. The Maple Leafs have lost the last four games. They are on the verge of missing the playoffs this season. Toronto could very well be major sellers at the NHL trade deadline this season.
The Maple Leafs fanbase is starting to lose patience with the team's performance. Toronto has not played well since returning from the Olympics break.
Toronto Maple Leafs Fans Call Out Team Performance After Another Loss Against the Philadelphia Flyers
Toronto fans have seen enough with some bad performances on home ice. This fanbase is also at the point where they want to see the team continue in order to get a Top 5 pick.
One fan said, "You really suck. You have absolutely no loyalty to your fans. Such a pathetic effort these past few games But hey! Elbows up!"
Another fan is critical of Auston Matthews and has not performed well since returning to Toronto. This fan said, "auston matthews had eight shots on net tonight..zero goals. he's firing more blanks than an 80 year old man." Matthews won gold medal for Team U.S.A., but Leafs fans will continue to remember him for not leading them to the playoffs.
Another Toronto fan said, "Played better but if we can barely compete with the Flyers it's more evidence that this team isn't built correctly and they need to retool. I hope Brad sees this." There is no doubt that the Maple Leafs need to be major sellers at the NHL trade deadline on Friday, March 6. They will sell not the big stars. Those conversations however will probably be revisited this offseason.
Toronto will head on the road for the next two games on Wednesday against the New Jersey Devils and Thursday against the New York Rangers. The Maple Leafs could lose both of those games and fans will want to see this team continue to tank potentially.
