New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange is set to make his first appearance in months after completing his recovery from a right shoulder injury.
The 6-foot-7 right-hander has been sidelined since early July with a right shoulder capsular sprain. He recently threw a live batting practice session on Sept. 4 after completing a mound session on Aug. 18.
Lagrange has now been cleared to return and will be activated from the seven-day injured list with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Francys Romero reported the development on X.
Before his injury, Lagrange made 18 appearances with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, including 11 starts. He went 1-4 with a 4.55 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 63.1 innings.
The numbers also show why the Yankees remain high on his potential. Lagrange struck out 83 batters, giving him an impressive 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings despite some command issues.
Lagrange brings plenty of power to the mound. His four-seam fastball typically sits between 97 and 99 mph and has reached 103.1 mph in game action.
He also features a mid-80s sweeping slider and an upper-80s cutter. The Yankees had been exploring a move to a shorter bullpen role before his injury, which could allow the organization to maximize his velocity.

The return gives Lagrange an important opportunity to rebuild his workload before the Yankees decide what comes next. New York has already secured a postseason berth and remains in position near the top of the American League.
For now, the priority is getting Lagrange back on the mound and seeing how his shoulder responds to game action.
