It's been a long time coming for this New York Yankees farm-hand.
Jeff Passan of ESPN first reported that the Yankees are calling up right-handed prospect Bradley Hanner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
In a corresponding move, New York is placing Kervin Castro on the 15-day injured list with right elbow neuritis.
Hanner was initially drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 21st round of the 2019 MLB Draft, but never had the opportunity to pitch at the big-league level for Minnesota. Hanner also spent three seasons in the Cleveland Guardians' minor league system after they selected him in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft in December 2022. He elected free agency following the 2025 season.
The Yankees wound up inking a minor league deal with Hanner on December 16, and the move may have paid off for them.
Across 40 appearances this season in Triple-A, the 27-year-old is 6-2 with a stellar 2.10 ERA, 61 strikeouts, a WHIP of 1.17 and has converted four of five save chances in 51.1 innings pitched.
Through eight seasons in the minor leagues, Hanner owns a 37-24 record with a 3.93 ERA, 403 punchouts, 25 saves and a 1.34 WHIP in 348 career innings. The righty hurler will now join a Yankees bullpen with one of the best ERA's in all of baseball. New York begins play on Tuesday with a bullpen ERA of 3.04.
Hanner will now look to make an instant impact out of the Yankees bullpen after eight long years in the minor leagues. The Bronx Bombers begin a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
