CC Sabathia is no stranger to Milwaukee, and the New York Yankees legend made that connection clear again Sunday, taking to social media after the Brewers selected his son, Carsten Sabathia III, in the 20th round of the 2026 MLB Draft.
The elder Sabathia spent parts of 19 seasons in the majors, including a stretch with the Brewers in 2008 after being traded from Cleveland. He went 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA over 17 starts that season in Milwaukee. He led the MLB with seven complete games, three of them being shutouts. His production helped the Brewers reach the postseason for the first time since 1982.

Sabathia was inducted into the Brewers' Wall of Honor in May, months after his 2025 Hall of Fame induction. Carsten, the oldest of CC’s four children, was born in 2003 and has his own memories of tagging along with his dad at Miller Park.
Milwaukee was the No. 611 overall pick out of the University of Houston. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound first baseman hit .283 with six home runs, 18 RBIs and an .885 OPS across 37 games this season after transferring from Georgia Tech in 2024 and returning from 2025 shoulder surgery.
CC Sabathia wrote on X that he was thrilled to see Carsten land with a franchise and city that welcomed him with open arms less than two decades ago.
"The work starts now. Only the beginning!!!" Sabathia wrote.
Carsten will now try to carve out a path through Milwaukee's farm system, where he'll be reunited with a friend and another son of a Brewers legend, Jadyn Fielder, son of former Brewers slugger Prince Fielder. With Carsten already bringing a four-year college career to the system, he could end up moving quickly to a full-season assignment once he signs.
