New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. found himself in hot water for what he did in the team's Monday loss against the Detroit Tigers. During the fifth inning, he took the field down 4-1, with a lollipop in his mouth.
That decision was immediately met with outrage from fans who thought it was unprofessional. The next day, Yankees manager Aaron Boone appeared on "Talkin' Yanks" and said, "That pisses me off, I didn't know about it until after the game."
However, Chisholm did his best to make up for the incident in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers. He went 2-for-4, logging two runs scored, two RBIs and one home run.

However, even after the criticism from fans and his manager, the Two-Time All-Star stood by his actions. After beating the Tigers, Chisholm spoke to the media, admitting he doesn't believe it was a "bad look" to have a lollipop on the field
“I don’t think it’s a bad look,” he said. “I mean, I’m playing a game, a kid’s game, and having fun. So I don’t think it’s a bad look, I just feel like safety issues.”
However, Chisholm isn't the only one making light of the situation. On Tuesday, Boone had some fun, saying, "The lollipop kid came through tonight."
Now hoping to put this entire saga behind him, Chisholm has been a key piece to the Yankees' success this season. He has accumulated 41 runs scored, 62 hits, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and 23 stolen bases in 75 games. The 28-year-old is also slashing .230/.315/.416 with a .731 OPS.

The Yankees and Tigers now enter a rubber match on Wednesday. New York is looking to build on its 47-31 record and extend its lead in the American League East.
