Former WWE superstar Ted DiBiase Jr. could spend the foreseeable future in prison.

DiBiase, the son of wrestling legend "The Million Dollar Man," made his WWE debut in May 2008. It wasn't long before he won the World Tag Team Championships with Cody Rhodes. That duo eventually formed a faction called "Legacy" with Randy Orton.

After moving over to singles competition, DiBiase received the Million Dollar Championship from his father. By August 2013, he announced that he wasn't going to renew his contract with the WWE. That decision led to him competing on the independent circuit.

It wasn't until May 2022 that DiBiase returned to the headlines. Unfortunately, it was for the wrong reasons.

DIbiase was sued by the Mississippi Department of Human Services for allegedly taking welfare funds from the Emergency Food Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

What's the latest on Ted DiBiase Jr.'s case?

According to court documents, DiBiase is facing money laundering, theft, wire fraud and conspiracy charges.

"The federal indictment accuses companies run by DiBiase of misspending millions in welfare funds through “sham contracts” awarded by co-conspirators in charge of the welfare program," a report from AL.com states. "Instead, the indictment says, DiBiase used the illegally obtained federal funds to purchase a $1.4 million home, a $55,000 pontoon boat, a $34,000 Kubota tractor and a $40,000 truck, among other expenditures.

AL.com is reporting that DiBiase could face a maximum of 20 years in prison for each count of wire fraud, 10 years for each count of money laundering and theft, and five years for conspiracy.

For fans wondering, this is the same welfare scandal that involves NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre.
