Penta is one step closer to a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity after advancing in WWE and AAA's No. 1 Contender's Tournament on Monday Night Raw.
Penta defeated Laredo Kid in the opening match of the tournament Monday night, moving on to the semifinal round. The eventual tournament winner will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship when Raw heads to Mexico City on Sept. 14.
Beyond the tournament implications, Penta vs. Laredo Kid served as a showcase of lucha libre on WWE's biggest weekly stage.

What is AAA?
Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, commonly known as AAA, is one of Mexico's largest professional wrestling promotions. Founded in 1992, the company has been home to many of lucha libre's biggest stars.
