Brock Lesnar wrapped up his in-ring career at SummerSlam in early August. Following a Hell in a Cell main event loss to Oba Femi, the two men shared a significant backstage interaction.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray detailed the untelevised moment during a recent episode of "Busted Open Radio." According to Ray, he was sitting in "The Beast's" personal locker room alongside Paul Heyman when a knock came at the door.
He stated that "The Ruler" stood on the other side and he sought out the veteran specifically to express his gratitude.
"There was a knock at the door. And when Brock Lesnar opened that door, who was on the other side? Oba Femi. And why was Oba Femi coming to Brock Lesnar’s locker room? To thank him," the Hall of Famer said.
For Bully Ray, that small gesture stood out. Femi had just experienced the biggest win of his career, but instead of making the moment all about himself, he took the time to show appreciation to one of wrestling's biggest stars.
Ray saw it as the kind of respect that has long been part of the wrestling business. He also admitted that The Ruler's decision to personally visit Lesnar left him genuinely happy.
"It made me so happy and warmed my heart to see Oba coming to thank Brock. Not just the handshake afterwards, 'Thanks, brother. I appreciate it,'" Ray explained.
The SummerSlam main event marked a historic milestone for WWE. Femi became the first wrestler to defeat Lesnar inside the Hell in a Cell structure. Following the matchup, the former WWE Universal Champion broke character to officially acknowledge the rising star's victory in the middle of the ring.
Oba Femi now moves forward on the main roster with the biggest win of his career. He successfully retired one of the most dominant forces in professional wrestling history.
Brock Lesnar Is Ready for Life Away From WWE

Lesnar has since made it clear that he does not intend to return to the ring. On August 4, 2026, he announced his retirement from professional wrestling and all in-ring competition during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show."
The decision brings an end to one of the most decorated careers of the modern era. WWE also moved the 49-year-old to the Alumni section of its official website after his announcement.
Lesnar said he is comfortable with his decision and is looking forward to spending more time with his family. Away from wrestling, he plans to enjoy hunting and support his two sons as they continue their hockey careers.
His daughter is also working toward a major goal of her own, with Lesnar planning to help her as she pursues her dream of competing at the 2028 Olympics.
After more than two decades of competing at the highest level, Brock Lesnar is now preparing for a very different chapter away from professional wrestling.
