A longtime wrestling star has confirmed that she has officially finalized her divorce at the age of 42.
Eva Marie, a former WWE star, has finalized her divorce from her longtime husband, Jonathan Coyle.
The WWE alum actually “quietly” finalized her divorce last August, but it feels like it has been longer than that.
“It feels like so much longer than a year,” she told Page Six.
“You have your initial process of filing and then figuring it out. Then you’re going through lawyers and all this stuff. So it feels like it’s not really surreal to me because I had to also sell the [marital house in Texas] and do all of these other little things to really solidify on paper that we were technically divorced.”
Marie is “thankful” that she and her husband, 44, did not share any children.
“My compassion towards anybody going through it, regardless if you’re amicable or not, it’s just a lot of stuff that you don’t really think about,” she added. “Even going through changing my last name was a (expletive) and a half.”
Marie filed for divorce in December 2024 after 10 years of marriage.
She told Page Six that “it was a combination of many things.”
Marie had an ‘lightbulb turning on’ moment’ at 40
Marie said that she realized when she turned 40 that life is short and you shouldn’t put anything off – even divorce.
“You only have one life, and you know, with my marriage, we were like business partners,” Marie shared.
“I really felt like Jonathan and I were doing a disservice to one another because we just had a very transactional business relationship. We got along, we were totally best of buddies, but that’s not really what a marriage is, nor should it be, nor is that what I wanted it to be,” she added.
Hopefully, both parties will emerge in better shape.
