2K

WWE 2K26 is a massive game (well over 100 GB to be exact). While that may cause some users to make some storage decisions with their game consoles, it is leading to the biggest and most fleshed-out version of the game ever. From upgrades to MyRise, MyFaction, The Island, Create and the debuting Ringside Pass, there's plenty to know about the game.

In addition to release info and the like, here's everything you should know ahead of release.

1. Release Date and Early Access

The standard release date is March 13, 2026, but players who pick up the King of Kings, Attitude Era, or Monday Night War Edition get early access starting March 6 — a full week early. That's a meaningful advantage for competitive modes like MyFACTION and The Island. The 2K Newsroom announcement confirmed all details.

2. CM Punk Is the Cover Athlete — and He Narrates the Showcase

Punk is only the second superstar to appear on the WWE 2K cover twice, having previously been on WWE '13. More importantly, he narrates the 2K Showcase mode — Punked — recounting his career arc from rise to rebellion to return. It's his story, in his words. As someone who covered his WWE return extensively, the timing lines up well with the current product's momentum.

3. The Roster Exceeds 400 Characters

This is the largest roster in franchise history. It spans current RAW, SmackDown, and NXT talent, legends, Hall of Famers, and crossover talent. Notable additions include Rey Félix, Rusev, Penta, and even AAA crossover talent. The current WWE product is as hot as it's been in years, and the roster reflects that depth.

4. Four New Match Types

I Quit, Inferno, Three Stages of Hell, and the Dumpster Match are all new additions. The Inferno match hasn't been a staple in the franchise for a long time. They've also added stackable tables, shopping carts, and thumbtacks as usable weapons — the sandbox chaos ceiling just went up.

5. Ratings Tell the Story

Rhea Ripley is the highest-rated active superstar at 96 overall. Super Cena clocks in at a perfect 100, the highest rating in the game. Celebrity addition Jelly Roll is rated 80 overall, which feels about right for the casual/culture crossover appeal 2K has leaned into.

6. MyRise Gets a Real Upgrade

MyRise — the career story mode — now features two new division-based storylines where your decisions as a villain or hero carry actual weight on your MyPLAYER. There's also extended content beyond the main story completion, which addresses one of the biggest complaints from prior years. Replay value looks significantly improved.

7. The Island Comes to PC (and Gets Bigger)

The Island — 2K's WWE-themed online social world — is available on PC for the first time. It now includes three factions battling for control, a new Scrapyard Brawl environment, revamped progression, and Superstar voiceovers throughout quests. This mode has grown considerably since its debut.

8. Creation Suite Gets Doubled

Create-A-Superstar save slots double to 200. Community Creations image capacity doubles to 2,000. You also get deeper body and face morphing tools plus two-tone hair color blending. For the community builders, this is a significant quality-of-life upgrade.

9. Ringside Pass Replaces Traditional DLC

The Ringside Pass is a battle pass-style content system with six seasons planned. Each season has 40 free tiers and 40 premium tiers — 120 total rewards per season. Season 1 launches with the game. This replaces the old DLC pack model and includes playable characters unavailable on the base roster. It's a model shift worth understanding before you decide which edition to buy.

10. Install Size Is Over 100GB

Plan accordingly. WWE 2K26 requires 100GB+ of storage on all platforms. If you're on a console with a full drive, clear space before March 6 or 13. There's nothing worse than buying a game and waiting hours to actually play it.
