The New York Giants are going to have a very different look in 2026 once new head coach John Harbaugh starts working with them. But it appears that the Giants will have to vacate their home in East Rutherford during training camp.
Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reported this morning that the Giants will be moving their summer training camp to Greenbrier in West Virginia. Construction is set to take place at MetLife Stadium and the Giants' training facilities in preparation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place this summer.
"World Cup and construction send the #Giants camp on the road for the first time since Albany in 2010. The team is headed to the Greenbrier," NFL insider Mike Garafolo wrote on X.
Eight World Cup games are going to be played at MetLife Stadium, including the Final and two knockout games. Suffice it to say, it will be mostly unusable from June through July.
Focus or Frustration?
Some NFL fans believe that the Giants might benefit from the isolation of West Virginia as opposed to the pressure of being in New York for Harbaugh's first training camp with the team.
"Harbaugh taking the Giants to the Greenbrier for his first training camp means isolation and focus and every team in the NFC East should be paying attention to what comes out of West Virginia this summer," one user remarked.
"Giants going to a resort in West Virginia for training camp is either a team bonding opportunity or a really long way to go to be bad at football," wrote another.

Nevertheless, fans in New York and New Jersey were still pretty annoyed that training camp is going to be way farther away from them.
"Well this sucks," one of many fans wrote.
Nevertheless, the Giants' hands are tied. The FIFA World Cup Final is the biggest sporting event in the world and it won't be disrupted by a bottom-10 NFL team's desire to have a few practices closer to home.
