Arizona State basketball star Marley Washenitz has become a star on and off the hardwood this March.
Washenitz was a two-time West Virginia State Player of the Year before taking her talents to Pittsburgh. She averaged 9.3 points and 2.7 assists per game during her final year with the Panthers. In her first and only season at Arizona State, she averaged 7.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest.
Unfortunately for Washenitz, the Sun Devils suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Virginia Cavaliers in the First Four on Thursday. She closed out her college career with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
"I wanted to do anything I could for this team to win and move on, and that's literally what I was doing," Washenitz said. "Whether that's I need to hit shots, get a stop... I just knew we were down three. I was feeling it in this game, obviously. I wanted to get a shot up; I wanted to put us in the position to win."

Arizona State coach Molly Miller had nothing but positive things to say about Washenitz during her postgame press conference.
"She did a really good job of making an impact when she went there," Miller said. "She made some good decisions."
Washenitz has gained countless Instagram followers over the past few days. At this point, it won't be long before she becomes a social media sensation.
End of an era for the Sun Devils.
Washenitz isn't the only Arizona State player graduating this year. Gabby Elliott, Makayla Moore and Last-Tear Poa are all moving on from college basketball.
Of course, it'll be up to Miller to replenish Arizona State's roster with talent this offseason.
Congratulations to Arizona State on a hard-fought 2025-26 season.
