The WNBA is being urged to suspend Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas for her "dirty" hit against Caitlin Clark on Wednesday night.
Thomas, a veteran forward, appeared to knock Clark in both the groin and the neck during a skirmish for the ball in the first half of Wednesday night's game between the Mercury and the Fever.
Footage of the incident quickly went viral on social media. Fans were outraged.
No foul was called.
Clark, who's been on the receiving end of some tough hits - and tough no-calls - was visibly upset by the play.

While no call was made on the floor, the WNBA could look into this via replay review and ultimately dish out punishment.
"The WNBA needs to review a play Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury made against Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark on Wednesday—and suspend her," Lundberg wrote.
"Just over three minutes into the second quarter there was a loose ball on the floor and players were battling for it. This is typical and just competitive basketball.
"But after the ball was away from the action, Thomas dug her fist into Clark's neck while she was still laying on the court. Then Thomas proceeded to step over her. No foul was called. All of the above was caught on camera and was clear as day."
Other WNBA supporters agree.
"The WNBA has to look at this and suspend Thomas at least 10 games, trying to injury another player is one of the more low things you can do, Alyssa Thomas showing how low class she is. She has to be suspended," one fan wrote.
"That should be a suspension for Thomas. Dirty player," one fan added.
