Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham looked to help the Indiana Fever snap a two-game losing streak as they faced Alyssa Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury on Monday night. The Fever entered the matchup following back-to-back losses to Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream, most recently falling 113-96 on Saturday.

With 7:57 remaining in the fourth quarter and Indiana holding a 73-54 lead, Clark got tangled up under the basket with her former Indiana teammate, DeWanna Bonner, and was called for a personal foul. While the former Iowa star argued with the officials, Bonner exchanged words with Cunningham and Myisha Hines-Allen, who had to be separated by the officials.

After the officials finally sorted everything out, they reviewed the entire incident, which resulted in five total technical fouls. Clark picked up her fifth technical of the season, while Thomas and Hines-Allen picked up offsetting techs. Bonner and Cunningham were also given technicals for their heated exchange.

With the technical fouls, Clark and Cunningham can both expect fines. With her fifth technical of the season, Clark will be fined $1,000 and receive a warning letter from the WNBA. Cunningham, meanwhile, will be fined $500 for her third technical of the year. Hines-Allen, who was ejected less than 10 seconds later after receiving a second technical for getting into it with Thomas, is also expected to be fined, along with Bonner and Thomas.

"Alright, the lowdown: Offsetting techs on Alyssa Thomas and Myisha Hines-Allen, and offsetting techs on Bonner and Cunningham," IndyStar's Chloe Peterson wrote on X. "Tech on Clark, her fifth of the season, means Mercury shot one free throw — a miss by Bonner."

With the new CBA in place, the WNBA updated its technical foul fines for the 2026 season. A player's first three technical fouls (1–3) result in a $500 fine each. The next four (4–7) carry a $1,000 fine each, with a warning letter from the league issued after the fifth technical. Upon receiving an eighth technical foul, a player is fined $1,500 and suspended for one game. After that, each additional technical carries a $1,500 fine, with another one-game suspension issued for every other technical thereafter (10th, 12th, 14th, etc.).

Following the Mercury game, Clark, Cunningham and the Fever will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting the Mercury once again.
