The Connecticut Sun ended the 2026 WNBA season on a good note, defeating the Toronto Tempo 95-81 in their final game of the regular season on Thursday.
The Sun franchise is moving to Houston beginning in the 2027 season, so the showdown with the Tempo at Mohegan Sun Arena was also their last game in the city. The team certainly made it a memorable one, with Ashlon Jackson scoring 18 points off the bench.
Forward Raegan Beers added 17 points and eight rebounds, while Aaliyah Edwards finished with 16 points, four boards and two assists.
Kiki Rice exploded for 28 points for Toronto, but with Marina Mabrey and Aneesah Morrow, among others, ruled out, the team simply didn’t have enough firepower.

While it was a memorable win for the Sun, however, it wasn’t without its issues for both teams. In fact, two players received a technical foul during the game, meaning they are now subject to a fine from the WNBA.
Beers was first assessed a technical foul with 1:38 remaining in the first quarter. Then, just 25 seconds later, Toronto’s Ornella Bankole also received a tech.
It was Beers’ second technical foul of the season, while it was Bankole’s first. That means the two will have to pay a $500 fine to the league. Under the increased penalties stemming from the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, a player’s first three technical fouls each carry a $500 fine, an increase from the $200 penalty last season.
Both the Sun and Tempo missed the playoffs. That being said, it’s quite disappointing for Beers and Bankole to end the campaign with penalties.
