Kelsey Mitchell has been one of the best players for the Indiana Fever this season. During Tuesday’s showdown against the Toronto Tempo, she finished with a game-high 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting, along with three rebounds, two assists and one steal.
The Fever guard was sensational right off the bat. In the first quarter of the game alone, she exploded for 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting to give Indiana a 33-23 lead. Indiana went on to secure a 101-95 victory.
Unfortunately, Mitchell’s incredible performance took a rather negative turn in the third quarter when she got into a heated argument with Tempo star Marina Mabrey.
Less than a minute into the quarter, Mitchell lost her cool after Mabrey continued to get extra physical and hold onto her. The Fever superstar proceeded to push the Tempo scorer before getting in her face and saying some words.

Game officials were quick to call a double technical foul. As a result, Mitchell is now in line to pay a $500 fine to the WNBA.
The WNBA’s rules state that a player’s first three technical fouls each carry a $500 fine. The fourth through seventh techs, meanwhile, are each punishable by a $1,000 fine.
Once a player reaches eight technical fouls, they receive a $1,500 fine and a one-game suspension.
It was Mitchell’s second tech of the season. Since she has generally avoided getting in trouble with the referees, it’s hard to see her reaching the technical foul limit.
As for Mabrey, though, it was her fifth tech of the campaign. Aside from the $1,000 fine she’s due to pay, the WNBA is also expected to send her a warning letter as she nears the limit.
