UPDATE: The WNBA has rescinded the technical foul on Caitlin Clark, reverting her count to seven.
It looks like it's not only Caitlin Clark who is facing disciplinary action from the WNBA as a result of Saturday's game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky.
Clark, who finished with 26 points, four rebounds, 11 assists, two steals and one block in the Fever's 90-86 win, received her eighth technical foul of the season during the game. It came after the All-Star guard accidentally hit a referee while stumbling out of bounds.
It was clearly not intentional since Clark had some contact with Natasha Cloud that caused her to lose balance.
Unsurprisingly, head coach Stephanie White was not happy with the call, believing that it did not warrant a technical foul. The Fever head coach proceeded to come to Clark's defense, but it also unfortunately prompted another tech.
With that said, White is now also set to be fined, along with Clark.

Since it's Clark's eighth technical foul, she is set to pay a $1,500 fine to the WNBA and serve a one-game suspension. As for White, she is expected to pay a $500 fine.
As the WNBA's rules state, a player or a coach's first three technical fouls each carry a $500 fine. This was White's second of the season.
It will certainly be interesting to see what the WNBA will do with Clark's tech, though. After all, there's a case to be made that it shouldn't have been called since the hit was accidental. The league can review the play and rescind the call, which could save Clark from her suspension.
The good news for Indiana is that the team has time to appeal. The Fever have a couple of days before they play the New York Liberty on Tuesday.
