Connecticut Sun center Brittney Griner is now due to receive a fine from the WNBA following her actions during Thursday's game against the Atlanta Dream.
Late in the second quarter, with the Sun trailing the Dream 49-31, Sun guard Leila Lacan appeared to have been hit in the face during a play, according to Deyscha "Sway" Smith of The IX Sports. Apparently, Griner took issue with it and confronted the referee, leading to the technical foul call.
For what it's worth, even Sun head coach Rachid Meziane was not happy with the no-call either, with game officials also hitting him with a tech.
As a result, both Griner and her head coach are set to pay a $500 fine. The WNBA's rules state that a player or coach's first three technical fouls carry a $500 fine each. The techs called on Griner and Meziane were each their second of the season.

The fourth through seventh techs are punishable by a $1,000 fine, while the eighth technical foul carries a $1,500 fine and a one-game suspension.
Griner has largely avoided getting technical fouls and flagrant fouls this season. Aside from her two techs, she only has one flagrant point, which she got against Angel Reese and the Dream as well back in June. That being said, it's unlikely that she reaches the limit for either violation.
Still, with the Sun looking to get some positive results amid a rather disappointing season, it will certainly benefit them if Griner can avoid getting in trouble with officials and ensure she stays on the court.
