Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever has taken an interest in the recent uptick in AI data centers.

It was reported this week that Marilee and David Kiliti sold their 89-acre farm in Pennsylvania to QTS Data Centers. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Blackstone-owned data-center company has spent a combined $586 million for roughly 1,700 acres of land.

Farmers are worried that too much land is being used for AI data centers at this time. It's a concern that even Cunningham shares.

Earlier this Thursday, the star guard for the Fever posted this question on social media: "So how do we save our farm land and stop all these dumb data centers."

It didn't take long for people to swarm Cunningham's post with their opinions.

"There are 875 million acres of farmland in the United States," one person commented. "Build the data centers. The farms will be fine."

"Those 'dumb data centers' fund schools, roads, and services by generating 1,000x more property tax revenue per acre than farmland," a second person wrote. "They create jobs, help expand power generation, and power modern technology. That includes the device you used to send this silly post."

"Data centers taking all the farmland is so unimaginably fake compared to every other problem with them that I'm shocked any adult can take the problem seriously after thinking about it for a few minutes," another person replied.

Will Sophie have a role in politics?

Former Grantland and ESPN Page 2 writer Chuck Klosterman predicted this week that Cunningham will eventually be the Vice President of the United States.

“Sophie Cunningham … I’m going to say 2050, is going to be Vice President of the United States,” Klosterman said on the latest episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast. “I don’t know what party she’ll be in, I don’t know anything about her political views. But she will be the vice presidential candidate, at least the candidate.”

In the meantime, Cunningham is averaging 9.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the Fever.
