Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon’s night ended early on Tuesday. Midway through the second quarter of the game against the Atlanta Dream, Hammon was ejected from the game.
Hammon’s ejection was a result of the back-to-back technical fouls she received after arguing with officials. The Aces tactician was first assessed a technical foul after she complained to a referee with 5:06 left to play before halftime.
Obviously, the veteran coach was not happy with the call and proceeded to approach the referee who had issued her the tech. Aces star A’ja Wilson held her back, but it was not enough as game officials hit Hammon with another technical foul, leading to her immediate ejection.

Unfortunately for Hammon, her punishment doesn’t stop there. As a result of her technical fouls, she is set to pay a total fine of $1,000.
The WNBA’s rules indicate that the first three technical fouls of a player or coach each carry a $500 fine. The fourth through seventh techs, meanwhile, are punishable by a $1,000 fine.
Once a player or coach reaches eight technical fouls, they receive a $1,500 fine and get suspended for one game.
Hammon’s latest techs were her second and third of the season.
Aces assistant coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson took over following Hammon’s exit.
It’s not the first time that Hammon has been ejected in a WNBA game. Nonetheless, the last time she was actually thrown off a contest was in June 2024 during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
