Happy Birthday, Sophie Cunningham.
The Indiana Fever star guard is 30 years old on Sunday. Cunningham, who starred collegiately at the University of Missouri, began her career with the Phoenix Mercury. She was traded from Phoenix to Indiana two years ago, playing alongside Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and others.
On Sunday, the WNBA took to social media to wish Cunningham a Happy 30th Birthday.
"Join us in wishing a Happy Birthday to 2025 Commissioner’s Cup Champion, Sophie Cunningham! 🎉," they shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"WNBABday."
It's been quite a year for Cunningham.
Earlier this summer, Cunningham made serious headlines, when she said that it should be "common sense" to keep transgender athletes out of women's sports.
In an ESPN article, Cunningham said that she wanted to “protect young girls in the locker room” and that “they shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
Cunningham then doubled down on her opinion while speaking to WNBA reporters.
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense,” Cunningham said before Indiana’s 123-88 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday. “And I think I’ll always believe in that. I think it’s really important to protect children, and that’s little girls who are also involved in that category. I stand on what I said.”
Cunningham has since received a ton of support from some and criticism from others.
On the court, the 6-foot-1 guard is averaging 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
The Indiana Fever are 22-12 on the season, heading into Sunday night's game against the Atlanta Dream.
Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
The Sunday evening matchup will pit longtime rivals Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese against each other in a national TV showcase for the WNBA. It should be fun.
