A’ja Wilson will be available for the Las Vegas Aces’ decisive playoff game against the Indiana Fever after the WNBA decided not to punish her for Tuesday’s confrontation with a courtside fan.
The Athletic reported Thursday, citing an anonymous league source, that Wilson won’t face further repercussions after officials reviewed the incident from Las Vegas’ 99-89 Game 2 loss to Indiana.
“Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson will not face league repercussions for confronting a fan in Game 2 of the WNBA first-round playoff series and will be available for a decisive Game 3 against the Indiana Fever on Thursday night,” Chantel Jennings and Annie Costabile reported.
Wilson approached a fan near the baseline late in the fourth quarter, and officials assessed Wilson a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct. That raised questions about further possible discipline under the WNBA rules prohibiting players from deliberately entering the stands.
According to The Athletic, game officials determined Wilson remained in the court area adjacent to the stanchion instead of the stands. That meant officials found no cause for an ejection.
Arena security removed the fan before allowing him to return after determining he hadn’t violated Indiana’s Fan Code of Conduct. The Fever, meanwhile, said they considered the matter closed.
Wilson explained afterward why she confronted the fan.
“If I see a man come at me, taking steps towards me and pointing at me, I don’t give a damn what you said,” Wilson said. “I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone. That is unacceptable. You don’t step towards me … and point at me. I’m not for that (expletive).”

With the series tied 1-1, Wilson and the Aces will host the Fever in a win-or-go-home Game 3 on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
