Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly one of the best point guards in the WNBA. She led the league in total assists (337) and assists per game (8.4) as a rookie in 2024, further cementing her status as an elite playmaker.

Clark, who also averaged 19.2 points in her first year, finished fourth in MVP voting and was selected as a member of the All-WNBA First Team in the same season.

Unfortunately, Clark was able to play in only 13 games in 2025 because of a groin injury and a bone bruise. She was unable to join the Fever in both the Commissioner's Cup Championship and the WNBA playoffs, where they reached the semifinals.

After her injury-riddled year, Clark's status in the WNBA has changed a bit, at least in the eyes of general managers around the league.

In the 2026 WNBA GM Survey, Clark finished second or completely fell out of the top three in a number of categories that she had topped in the previous year. One of those categories is "Best Point Guard in the WNBA."

In 2025, Clark and Las Vegas Aces star Chelsea Gray shared the top spot with 50% of the votes from the WNBA GMs. This 2026, Gray claimed the No. 1 spot alone with 73% of the votes, while Clark fell to second with just 20%.

Here are the voting results:

Who is the best point guard in the WNBA?

1. Chelsea Gray, Las Vegas

73%

2. Caitlin Clark, Indiana

20%

3. Paige Bueckers, Dallas

7%

Gray averaged 11.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.4 steals while playing all 44 games for the Aces last season. She also played a huge role in Las Vegas' championship win, so there's some merit to her selection as the WNBA's best point guard.

Still, it's definitely hard to ignore what Clark has accomplished as a playmaker for the Fever in her first two seasons in the WNBA.

If Clark is able to stay healthy and produce at an even better level than she did in her rookie year, though, it won't be surprising to see her reclaim the title of the WNBA's best point guard.
