The Los Angeles Sparks weren't just handed an 85-81 loss to the New York Liberty on Thursday, they lost Cameron Brink to an injury.
Brink, the No. 2 overall pick from the 2024 WNBA Draft, suffered a torn ACL during her rookie season with the Sparks. She returned in 2025 and appeared in 15 games for Los Angeles, averaging 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest.
Unfortunately for Brink, she absorbed a hard shot to the ribs from Liberty star Breanna Stewart on Thursday night. It was such a rough blow to her midsection that she immediately hit the floor in pain.
Brink ultimately had to be helped off the floor by a few teammates. She had a towel over her head as she was being guided to the locker room.

Although it didn't seem like a career-threatening injury at all, WNBA fans are seriously worried about Brink's long-term health.
"It’s over, she can’t ever stay healthy. Female Greg Oden," one fan declared.
"Too many injuries for a player only in their 3rd year," a second fan wrote.
"She’s done. Never added any muscle to offset the first injury," another fan commented.
"Not Cam again," another WNBA fan added. "She might be done."
What's the latest on Cameron Brink?
As of this moment, the Sparks have only revealed that Brink has a rib injury.
"Cam's getting evaluated right now. She took a brutal hit to the ribs," Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said. "The docs are looking at her right now. That's all I know right now."
The Sparks will be back in action Saturday night against the Washington Mystics. It's too early to determine if Brink will be cleared before tipoff.
