Chennedy Carter couldn't establish a new long-term home with the Las Vegas Aces.
The Aces waived Carter on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the reigning champions signed former Indiana Fever guard Justine Pissott.
It's a bit of a surprise, as Carter was an extremely efficient scorer off the Aces' bench this season. The 27-year-old was averaging 12.2 points in just 16.9 minutes, making 60 percent of her field-goal attempts.
Yet the cut cements the latest abbreviated stay for Carter, who has never appeared in over 33 games with the same team since the Atlanta Dream drafted her with the No. 4 pick in 2020.

Some observers scratched their heads over the Aces waiving Carter, a top Sixth Person of the Year candidate for a championship contender. Fans reacted to the move on social media.
"I really need answers for Chennedy Carter getting waived," a fan said.
"Somebody explain to me what we are doing," a fan asked.
"I don’t understand why she barely made a roster and then is now getting waived when she’s been one of the most impactful bench players," another fan said. "Must be a horrible locker room teammate or something."
"If the Aces are willing to possibly blow their title chances she must be the worst teammate ever," a fan speculated.
"I'm rooting for Chennedy Carter, who is one of the most exciting players in the league," Percy Allen wrote. "But if she couldn't make it work with Aces and Becky Hammon, then I can't think of many places in WNBA that will take a chance on her."
Carter's latest setback
For all her talent, Carter hasn't managed to stay in one spot for long.
The Dream suspended Carter for conduct detrimental to the team in 2021, and the Los Angeles Sparks waived her the following year after a disciplinary suspension. She averaged a career-high 17.5 points per game with the Chicago Sky in 2024 after not playing in 2023.
Carter nevertheless did not play in the WNBA last year, and she didn't sign with the Aces until April. The move paid dividends when she tallied at least 20 points four times in May, but Carter went scoreless in Sunday's 84-68 loss to the Fever.
