WNBA Fans Defending Dirty Hit On Caitlin Clark As 'Clean Play'

Some WNBA fans are coming to the defense of Alyssa Thomas, following her apparently "dirty" hit against Caitlin Clark.

The Phoenix Mercury forward went to the ground with Clark during Wednesday night's WNBA regular season game. Footage showed Clark's groin and neck getting hit during the skirmish on the floor. No fouls were called.

Video of the incident quickly went viral.

"We have a generational talent, and a WNBA superstar, who had two cheap shots that weren't called ... Absolutely unacceptable," Fever coach Stephanie White said.

"She is not called the same way everybody else is called."

Some are now urging Clark to leave the WNBA for Europe.

"If I were Caitlin Clark, I would seriously consider going to play overseas somewhere and get the royal treatment…she's a straight white basketball player. And she is not being treated with any sort of respect," Boomer Esiason said.

Some WNBA fans are coming to the defense of the play, arguing that it was a clean basketball play.

"Clean play. You’re taught to get on the ground in that situation and tie up the ball," one fan argued.

"Everyone running back but her. None of her teammates even considered to help your up because it wasn't that serious," one fan added.

"Are y'all really gonna sit here and act like this isn’t a player going for the ball?" another fan remarked.

"Genuinely not seeing why this is being made out to be something it’s not. Trying to act like she really punched that lady in the face. Please," one fan added.

The drama within the WNBA will continue, apparently.
