Angel Reese is seeing WNBA fans turn on her on social media following her viral interview from this week.
The Atlanta Dream forward set two WNBA records on Monday night. She recorded 26 rebounds in the Atlanta Dream’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday at Crypto.com Arena. She set the league’s record for most rebounds in a game, while also breaking the regular season rebounds record at 458.
“Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots. Tonight I couldn’t hit (anything) so I knew I was going be able to get them on the rebounding side,” Reese said postgame. “I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win.”
After the game, a reporter mistakenly said that Reese had set “NBA” records. He was quickly corrected. However, Reese made it clear that she believes she’s good enough to make NBA history, too.
“I be setting NBA records too,” she said.
There’s a line between confidence and cockiness, though. Some fans think that Reese is displaying more of the latter right now.
Fans accuse Reese of ‘unlikeable’ behavior
Some fans have accused Reese of being the most “unlikeable” player in the league right now.
“She may be the most insecure athlete I have ever seen. It’s wild,” one fan wrote.
“Girl, you wouldn’t get a single rebound if you played in the NBA. Get outta here…,” one fan added.
“Come on, Angel. That’s just not true,” one fan added.
Reese is confident and it shines through with her play. However, her NBA claim is setting people off on social media. The three-time WNBA All-Star has been a confident player since her college days, though.
At this point, the Atlanta Dream forward is not likely to change, even if fans are turning on her.
