If there’s one thing everyone should be able to agree on when it comes to the WNBA in 2026, it’s this: Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are great for TV ratings.
Just this season, Clark and the Fever have set TV viewership records for games played on CBS, NBC, ESPN, Prime, USA Network, and Ion. Sunday night, more than 3.3 million people tuned into the Fever at Sky game in Chicago. It was the most-watched WNBA regular season game since the league’s inaugural season.
Everyone should be able to agree that, like her or not, Clark is a massive driver for monster TV ratings. But, unsurprisingly, some WNBA fans are trying to discredit Clark and her impact on the TV ratings.
Some WNBA fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to discredit Clark and her impact on the TV ratings.
WNBA fans take shots at Clark’s TV ratings impact
“Well that’s not hard when all their games are on national TV and some of the games being the only game to watch that day while other teams are playing at the same time in one day,” one fan wrote in response to Clark’s TV ratings.
Another WNBA fan credited DiJonai Carrington, not Caitlin Clark.
“They played all 44 on national tv. This not the flex it should be,” one fan added.
Of course, the reason why the WNBA puts all of Clark’s games on national TV is because she draws massive TV ratings. This is not a chicken or the egg thing. Clark is on national TV because she gets massive ratings. She does not just get massive TV ratings for being on national TV.
The same is true of teams like the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL. Like them or not, they drive massive ratings. It’s why ESPN, FOX, etc. constantly talks about them, even if they haven’t won a Super Bowl in forever.
You can dislike Caitlin Clark, but trying to discredit her impact on the league’s TV ratings is lame.
