The Golden State Valkyries evened up the WNBA Finals today, taking down Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream in a 67-62 win. It was a rough game for Reese, who didn’t go over 10 points or 10 rebounds for the first time in a while.
But some fans believe that ESPN’s coverage of her poor performance today is unfair. Following the game, ESPN sent out an alert noting that Reese went 2-of-12 shooting in the game.
Several users on X asserted that ESPN hasn’t said anything positive about Reese when the Dream were winning in the WNBA Finals, so they have an “agenda.”
“ESPN didn’t post anything positive of Angel Reese last 2 games but they post this bs the agenda is so clear,” one user remarked on X.
“I want everyone to take note that ESPN hasn’t posted a single positive thing about Angel Reese this entire playoff run,” another user wrote. “But watch how quick they post about her performance tonight instead of posting about GSW having a better game than the Dream. Clockwork.
“Could’ve easily posted a Valks player who had better numbers, but let’s get negative and act like everybody else on the Dream didn’t have damn near the same numbers as Reese. Clowns.”
Is there an agenda against Reese?
There really doesn’t seem to be much open vitriol against Reese from ESPN. Just two weeks ago ESPN ran a well-received article all about how she was dominant as the Dream took a 2-0 lead in the WNBA Semifinals. They also covered her pretty well after the Dream claimed Game 2 of the WNBA Finals.
But if fans of Reese are expecting the same level of love and adoration that ESPN gives to players like Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson, that’s a different conversation entirely.

It continues to be heavily debated to what extent Reese “moves the needle” for the WNBA. Some argue she puts people in seats while others argue that she doesn’t bring ratings.
Either way, Reese’s goal is to win the WNBA Finals. If she can do that over these next three games, it will be pretty hard for anyone, even a group with an alleged “agenda” to deny her.
