Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever is one of the most high-profile players in professional basketball, regardless of gender. Clark has been terrific during the 2026 WNBA season, as the 6-foot guard is third in the league in scoring (21.3 points per game) and second in assists (8.2).
Clark is currently second in 2026 WNBA All-Star Game voting (670,510 votes), behind teammate Aliyah Boston (683,996). Boston has been an anchor defensively for Indiana, leading the Fever in rebounds (8.6 per game), steals (1.1), and blocks (1.2). With the 6-foot-5 center also averaging 16.6 points per game, it is no wonder the pair of teammates find themselves at the top of the All-Star Game voting.

Kelsey Mitchell is no slouch either, as the 2025 All-WNBA First Team member, who is averaging 20.9 points per game, joins Boston and Clark to form a Big Three in Indiana. Between the three, the WNBA has plenty of star power to choose from for promotion during the league's 30th-anniversary season. That is why it confused many when the WNBA recently decided to promote the league and did not include Clark, Boston or Mitchell.
On Wednesday, the WNBA released a commemorative anniversary poster celebrating the league's 30th anniversary. A player from each team in the league is included on the poster, with guard Sophie Cunningham controversially chosen to represent Indiana.
Cunningham is an eight-year veteran who is fourth on the Fever in scoring (9.9 points per game). The 29-year-old primarily comes off the bench, also averaging 2.8 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists in 23.4 minutes of action. The Missouri native adds a solid shooting stroke, shooting 48.5% from the field, 88.2% from the free-throw line, and 40.6% from 3-point range.

Although Cunningham is a solid veteran, there was immediate backlash to her inclusion on the poster over other notable Fever stars.
"Super smart move to NOT include the most popular player in women’s basketball while trying to promote women’s basketball." wrote one user.
"40 dollars for a WNBA poster without the face of the biggest star the WNBA had in all those 30 years? Yeah im good." said another user.
"The WNBA is an absolute joke. Caitlin Clark is the biggest star in women’s basketball history, and this is how you treat her?? 😂" a fan said mockingly.
"Seriously? I love Sophie but Caitlin was the only choice for the Fever. Your agenda and bias are painfully obvious. Shame on you." replied someone in dismay.
"What a terrible poster. Missing crucial pieces who elevated the W." another fan chimed in.
"This cannot be real. No DT or CC? What was the thought process here? WHY ARE YOU SO BAD AT THIS @WNBA ?" a user wrote as they questioned the league.
Indiana will next host the Phoenix Mercury at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m. ET.
