WNBA analyst Chris Williamson is jokingly (hopefully, anyway) crediting DiJonai Carrington with massive TV ratings.
NBC Sports announced that Sunday night’s Indiana Fever at Chicago Sky game did massive ratings. More than 3.3 million fans tuned into Sunday night’s game between the Fever and the Sky. The Fever blew out the Sky, with former NBA forward Enes Kanter getting ejected from the contest.
The game delivered historic TV ratings for NBC and Peacock. It’s the most-watched NBA regular season game since the league’s opening weekend in 1997.
Carrington, who covers the WNBA, took to X, crediting Carrington – a guard for the Chicago Sky – for the massive TV ratings.
“DiJonai’s power !!!!” he shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
WNBA fans react to Williamson’s post
“Non-Clark games general upward trend compared to pre-2024 numbers due to broader league growth and new expansion teams, individual non-Clark games draw standard arena capacities (often ranging between 4,000 to 10,000 fans rather than the massive sellout surges associated with her,” one fan wrote.
“When the Indiana Fever travel, opposing teams routinely move games to larger NBA-sized arenas to meet demand. The Fever average roughly 16,000+ fans on the road, leading the league by a wide margin,” one fan added.
“Lol, come on man,” one fan added.
“I thought this has to be a joke, but then saw Chris tweeted it and realised he was probably being serious…..,” another fan added.
“This dude is what I call a poster board guy. Made one in middle school and got elected to student council and peaked,” one fan added.
“The worst account on here,” one fan added.
Clark, of course, is the driving force behind the WNBA’s massive TV ratings for games like this, like it or not.
The ratings back it up in a significant way.
