It has been an interesting offseason thus far for the Washington Wizards as they have already made multiple moves.
The Wizards began their offseason by landing the first overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft that they used to select A.J. Dybantsa and they followed that up by signing Trae Young, who they acquired from the Atlanta Hawks last season, to a four-year, $212 million extension.
By making these moves, the Wizards have built a solid core led by Young, Dybantsa, Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George, along with star big man Anthony Davis, who they acquired from the Dallas Mavericks last season.

Of course, Davis is potentially entering the final year of his contract as he has a player option for next season, which has resulted in him being the subject of trade rumors once again as the Wizards have yet to sign him to a new contract extension.
While the star big man has been in trade rumors thus far this summer, a report released Tuesday revealed the Wizards’ plans for his future in Washington D.C.

According to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, the Wizards are not interested in trading Davis this offseason and they are not listening to trade offers for him.
Spears also mentioned in his report that Wizards general manager Will Dawkins is a huge fan of Davis.
This is a massive report by Spears as it appears as though the Wizards are looking to keep Davis on their roster to pair alongside the rest of their core, which could eventually lead to a new contract extension for the star big man.
Of course, the Wizards shockingly acquired Davis from the Mavericks ahead of the trade deadline last season, though the 33-year-old big man did not play for Washington as he sat out the rest of the season due to a finger injury.

With Davis not playing for the Wizards after being acquired by them last season, along with the franchise yet to sign him to a new extension, trade rumors began to grow around the 10-time All-Star, especially after it was reported that the Golden State Warriors were interested.
Despite this, it looks like Davis will remain in Washington this season as the Wizards try to end their playoff drought with him and Young leading the way for their young core.
