The Wizards announced that Carrington joined LaMelo Ball (Charlotte Hornets) and Luka Doncic (Lakers) as the only players to have at least 700 assists and 250 3-pointers.
Carrington joined a pair of players who have been recognized as stars in the NBA. It's an indication that he could be a star for the Wizards one day. It has been an eventful month for the young guard. He also recorded his 1,500th career point on March 21 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He had 19 points on 58.3% shooting from the field.
"1,500 career points in books for Bub‼️"
Carrington also came close to his career-high in points on March 17 against the Detroit Pistons. He had 30 points on 12-for-16 shooting from the field. Although the Wizards suffered a tough 130-117 loss against the best team in the East, it was still an impressive outing. Following the contest, his teammate, Julian Champagnie, praised his growth as a scorer.
“I think Bub is trying to learn his spots more. Starting to figure out when to shoot, when not to shoot,” the Wizards' forward said. “When to be aggressive, when not to be aggressive. When to move the ball, which passes to make. He’s been diligent with the film work. I watch him do film before every game. I feel like in those aspects he’s been growing. Gotta remember Bub’s still young, like 21 years old…Super proud of the growth he’s made this year.”
Carrington is still a young prospect who has grown to learn about how he can maximize his talents. There's still a lot of time for him to develop, as he won't turn 21 until July. The Wizards found a gem when they used their No. 14 pick in 2024.
