Trae Young has been out of action for the Washington Wizards since March 16. The 6-foot-2 point guard has been dealing with a quad and a back injury that have prevented him from returning to the court.

Young has played just five games for Washington this season following his blockbuster trade from the Atlanta Hawks in January. The Wizards sent CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert to the Hawks in exchange for Young.

In five games played for the Wizards this season, Young has produced averages of 15.2 points on 59.5% shooting, 3.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.8 triples in 20.8 minutes per contest.

Unfortunately for Wizards fans, they will need to wait until next season to see Young on the court again.

On Tuesday, Washington head coach Brian Keefe announced the team’s decision to shut Young down for the rest of the season. The four-time All-Star has not made enough progress for the Wizards to consider bringing him back, and they are opting to have him sit out the last four games of the regular season.

This does not come as a surprise, considering the Wizards have the worst record in the NBA at 17-61. They have nothing more to play for this year and have decided to prioritize Young’s health and recovery as opposed to bringing him back.

Along with Young, the Wizards have also ruled Anthony Davis out for the remainder of the campaign. Unlike Young, however, Davis has yet to make his debut for Washington due to a finger injury.

The Wizards are in action on Wednesday. They face the Chicago Bulls in a home game at Capital One Arena.
