A reporter at the Winter Olympics has issued an apology for her behavior during a TV hit on the air.
Channel Nine reporter Danika Mason went viral for appearing to slur her words on the air. Mason later admitted to drinking before going on the air. The veteran TV reporter said that she "misjudged" the situation and has since apologized.
"I want to take full responsibility, it's not the standard I set myself," Mason said during a future appearance on the air, adding that she was "embarrassed".
Mason went viral for stumbling over her words and making references to iguanas and coffee, among other things, during her TV hit.
"Literally like the price of coffee over here is actually fine, it's more the price of coffee in the US that we're gonna have to get used to. I'm not sure about the iguanas, where are we going with that one?" she said.
Fans weigh in on her appearance
Fans were debating what to do with the veteran TV reporter following her on-air appearance, slurring words.
"If it's not a health issue, she should be sacked on the spot - very unprofessional," one wrote.
Another added: "Good on her, nothing wrong with this. You can tell she's having an absolute ball over there."
"She has to apologize to no one," another added.
Mason, meanwhile, remains apologetic.
"Look, I totally misjudged the situation, I shouldn't have had a drink, especially in these conditions, it's cold, we've got altitude, and not having had dinner probably didn't help as well. But I want to take full responsibility, it's not the standard I set myself.
"So in saying that, I'm genuinely really sorry and I'm thanking everyone for those messages I've received as well."
