The Dallas Wings will have to finish the 2026 season without Azzi Fudd, dealing another significant blow to a team fighting to remain in the WNBA playoff picture. The No. 1 overall pick had emerged as an important contributor during her rookie season before a lingering right knee issue sidelined her.
Fudd has missed the Wings’ last five games after experiencing right knee soreness during warmups earlier this month. Dallas managed only one win during that stretch, and Fudd was again absent from Wednesday’s practice, where she did not participate in the five-on-five session open to the media.

Fudd is now out for the remainder of the season, including the playoffs, and will undergo a knee procedure, according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou.
The development comes at a difficult point for Dallas, which has leaned heavily on Fudd since selecting her first overall in April. She has averaged 13.1 points, 1.8 assists and 1.7 rebounds per game while providing the Wings with another perimeter scoring option alongside Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale.
Fudd’s rookie season had already been notable. She won the WNBA 3-point contest during All-Star weekend and quickly showed why Dallas viewed her as the centerpiece of its future.
Now, the Wings will have to navigate the rest of their playoff push without her. Dallas is holding the final postseason spot, making the loss of its No. 1 pick particularly significant with the regular season entering its final stretch.
The Wings return to action Thursday against the Indiana Fever, hoping to stop a two-game skid.
