Myles Garrett will sit out his fourth straight game when the Los Angeles Rams host the Buffalo Bills on “Monday Night Football.” Garrett’s first season with the Rams has been interrupted by a knee injury, leaving the team without one of its biggest defensive additions. The star pass rusher underwent surgery on his left knee in September after experiencing irritation during training camp and the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
Garrett was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 17, forcing him to miss at least four games. With that minimum absence now at its end, the Rams have been monitoring his rehabilitation and determining when he can safely resume football activities.
Myles Garrett’s Return Timeline Still Uncertain

Garrett is expected to return this season, but his exact comeback date remains uncertain. Rams head coach Sean McVay said on Saturday that the team was unlikely to open Garrett’s 21-day practice window this week, even though he was making progress in his rehabilitation.
“It’s kind of week to week in terms of how he feels, but I would say it’s more likely that we do not start his clock next week,” McVay said.
Opening the practice window would allow Garrett to begin working toward a return to the active roster. Once that window opens, the Rams would have up to 21 days to activate him. Until then, he remains on injured reserve and cannot play.
McVay said Garrett was participating in team meetings and progressing through rehabilitation. The coaching staff still needs to see how his knee responds to football-specific drills before determining when he can return to the field.
Rams Continue to Wait on Myles Garrett
Garrett struggled in the opening loss to San Francisco, playing 40 of 65 defensive snaps without recording a tackle before the team decided surgery was the next step.
His eventual comeback would give Los Angeles a significant defensive boost. Garrett broke the record for most sacks in a single season, recording 23 sacks with the Cleveland Browns in 2025. The Rams acquired him in an offseason trade, and his return could strengthen their pass rush as the season progresses.
