Coach Mike Vrabel closed out the week at New England Patriots training camp with a spirited intrasquad scrimmage on Friday.
The news on the field was unspectacular with backup quarterback Tommy DeVito outshining starter Drake Maye, but the noteworthy information came from Vrabel before the blue and white squads squared off.
The coach spoke to the injury status of three expected key contributors.
Campbell misses again
Starting left tackle Will Campbell, who sat out the bulk of Thursday's session with a brace on his arm, did not participate in Friday's scrimmage.
"I think he'll be ready to go after the weekend. I don't know if he'll participate this morning," said Vrabel.
Of note on the field was that rookie Caleb Lomu started at left tackle in front of Maye in the scrimmage.

Still no sign of Carlton Davis
Cornerback Carlton Davis, who has missed about a week now with a hamstring injury, was also talked about.
"CD will be out probably till the end of next week. I don't anticipate seeing him with the joint practices with the Colts or available for that game, but staying engaged," said Vrabel. "(Assistant coach) Kevin Richardson can take him into the mobile classroom and go through a specific script and plays and cater to exactly the things that CD needs, so that again, he can stay engaged while he's not in."
"I've always told you, it's hard to be out dealing with something and then install new installations going in, but you're not getting to rep it physically. So, we're trying to just keep him engaged, and he is."
Doubs returns to action
The final key guy was Romeo Doubs, who missed the last couple practices. He was on the field, contributing for Maye's squad.
"Romeo is back today. It was a personal thing, if he wants to address it. It's all very positive, but back and ready to work," Vrabel said.
The one piece of the missing Patriots puzzle that was not addressed was defensive tackle Christian Barmore.
Barmore left practice early with the training staff on Thursday and did not participate in the action on Friday.
