The Minnesota Timberwolves gave their fans fresh hope on Sunday when they listed Anthony Edwards as questionable for Monday’s Game 1 of the Western Conference playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs.
Edwards missed the final two games of Minnesota’s first-round series against the Denver Nuggets after suffering a left knee injury in Game 4. The injury occurred on an awkward landing in the game and was later diagnosed as a hyperextension along with a bone bruise. He was ruled out for the remainder of the series despite avoiding structural damage, and the team confirmed he’ll be out for multiple weeks.
In a surprise turn of events, the Timberwolves cleared Edwards for on-court basketball activities days after his injury, and he has progressed faster than initially expected after being considered week-to-week.

On Monday, ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed that Edwards is expected to play, barring any setback pregame, noting that “Edwards has received medical clearance and will get final sign-off after his pregame routine.”
The latest update came after Charania confirmed in an earlier report that Edwards “was a significant participant in Timberwolves shootaround” and is pushing to play.
Game 1 between the Timberwolves and Spurs tips off at 9:30 p.m. ET at Frost Bank center in San Antonio. The game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network and Peacock.
Minnesota will be eager to have its superstar back on the floor as they face a dangerous and well-rested Spurs team led by Defensive Player of the Year Victor Wembanyama.
