The Denver Broncos did not have the easiest two-game stretch to open the season.

The team had to go to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in Week 1, and then faced the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2. That would be an extremely difficult slate for anybody, so it’s not surprising that the Broncos split those matchups.

The biggest story, though, has been the play of Bo Nix. Nix seemingly took steps forward in 2025, leading the team to the AFC Championship Game. However, Nix hasn’t looked nearly as good as he did last year so far.

Through two games, Nix has thrown for 419 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The panicking has already begun, and people are worrying that 2025 was the best we’ll ever see out of Nix.

Today, let’s talk about why the concerns are overblown.

No Reason to Panic About Nix

First of all, Nix was much better in Week 2 than he was in Week 1.

Against the Chiefs, Nix only threw for 131 yards while fumbling three times and throwing an interception. In Week 2, Nix bounced back with 288 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and no fumbles.

These were also two very good defense Nix faced off against, which explains some of the struggles. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report recently identified what the panic level should be for each struggling quarterback, and the level for Nix is low.

“This is a quality team across the board with a new play-caller. Nix has the talent and support to get by while ideally making progress as Year 3 continues. There’s some margin for error here,” Gagnon explained.

As Gagnon said, Nix has the luxury of playing on a quality roster. If he were on a bad or mediocre team, there’d be much more pressure on him to perform. However, the Broncos are talented enough to win games without Nix playing like a star.

Gagnon also mentioned the fact that the Broncos have a new play-caller. It sometimes takes several weeks for an offense to get flowing, so this is not unusual.

The ground game also hasn’t gotten going for the Broncos yet. The team is only averaging 82.5 rushing yards per game, which is among the worst marks in the league. This puts more pressure on Nix, so once the ground game gets rolling, the offense won’t be as predictable.
