Inter Miami welcome Liga MX side Club León tonight in the Leagues Cup as Guillermo Hoyos’ side looks to avoid elimination.
The Herons are coming off a 2-1 defeat to Monterrey and have just three points following their 4-2 victory over Atlético de San Luis.
At 38 years old, Lionel Messi once again proved that class is permanent by scoring a brace shortly after returning from his post-World Cup break.
However, shortly afterward Messi was dealt the heartbreaking news of his father Jorge Messi’s death, forcing him to return to his home country to be with his family.
As a result, Inter Miami are expected to be without Messi for tonight’s crucial fixture.

To add to the pressure, Hoyos must also cope with the absence of inform forward Luis Suárez.
Why Is Luis Suárez Not Playing Today?
Luis Suárez is not featuring tonight because he is serving a six-match suspension stemming from misconduct during last season’s Leagues Cup final.
The Uruguayan was suspended after his involvement in a post-match altercation, which included spitting in the face of Seattle Sounders Director of Security Gene Ramirez.
Suarez has also been in fine form recently, having already scored 10 goals in 14 appearances during the 2026 MLS season.
With both Messi and Suárez unavailable, Inter Miami will have to rely on other attacking options against León. The Herons can, however, call upon new signing Casemiro and Rodrigo De Paul, who scored in their previous game.
Inter Miami’s starting lineup could feature Rocco Ríos Novo in goal, with Noah Allen, Micael, Ian Fray and Facundo Mura forming a possible defensive line. Telasco Segovia, Yannick Bright, Casemiro and Rodrigo De Paul could make up the midfield, while Pinter and Delinois might lead the attack.
