England will host World Champions Spain in their first UEFA Nations League match in Group 3 of League A.
England head coach Thomas Tuchel has called up players who played in the World Cup and players who were not included in the England World Cup squad.
For their match after the World Cup, Tuchel decided not to start Jordan Pickford, who is seen as England’s No. 1 goalkeeper over the last few years.
Pickford started in almost every game for England in the 2026 World Cup; he did not play in the 3rd-place match against France.

Is England’s Jordan Pickford Injured?
Jordan Pickford is not injured and is on the England bench against Spain. Pickford’s absence is likely because Thomas Tuchel is giving James Trafford an opportunity to compete for the No. 1 goalkeeper spot in England.
Trafford has been viewed as the future first-choice goalkeeper for England while Pickford’s time may be ending soon.
Pickford played in three World Cups and in two EUROS with the England national team as the first-choice goalkeeper.
