The Los Angeles Dodgers took the field with a different look on Friday as they began their first road trip of the 2026 MLB season.
As the reigning back-to-back World Series champions head into a new series against the Washington Nationals, the organization has decided to make a change to its longstanding identity.
For decades, the Dodgers' jerseys have remained consistent with the team playing baseball away from home.
The Dodgers’ road uniforms have traditionally featured gray designs, with only minor variations separating the two primary options worn throughout recent seasons, but never diverging from the gray look.

That approach has remained unchanged even as alternatives were introduced for other particular matchups, including special events.
Now, the Dodgers are paving a new way and entering a new era by making a historic change to their road uniforms.
For the first time in franchise history, the Dodgers are incorporating a blue jersey into their road uniform rotation, beginning with games against the Washington Nationals and the Toronto Blue Jays.
“For the first time in history, the Dodgers will be wearing a blue jersey as part of their regular uniform rotation on the road,” the Dodgers announced on Thursday.
The new look resembles the club’s spring training tops, featuring gray piping to match road pants and red numbers on the front.
It also includes a “Los Angeles” script across the chest and a Dodgers script patch on the sleeve, replacing the standard interlocking “LA” logo used on other uniforms.
The addition gives the Dodgers a third road option alongside their two traditional gray jerseys.
Dodgers and Nationals opened their series on Friday at 1:05 p.m. ET.
