The 2026 FIFA World Cup is finally coming to an end after weeks of thrilling matches, as finalists Spain and Argentina battle for the trophy on Sunday, July 19.
The tournament also marked the first expansion to 48 teams, with the United States, Mexico, and Canada successfully co-hosting the event. The expanded competition attracted more than 6.25 million fans to stadiums and set new global viewership records.
FIFA also enjoyed unprecedented commercial success during the tournament, generating a record $15 billion in revenue, well above its initial $11 billion projection. The total was fueled by record-breaking ticket sales, hospitality packages, and high demand through the official ticket resale platform.

Fans packed stadiums across all three host nations, with venues operating at a remarkable 99.7% capacity throughout the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup also made history by hosting three separate opening ceremonies across the co-host countries on June 11 and 12, with each celebration showcasing the culture, history, and music of the host nation.
Now, the tournament comes to a close at New York/New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium), including the highly anticipated match and some worldwide entertainment.

World Cup Closing Ceremony Performers List
The star-studded entertainment lineup for the final features some of the biggest names from music, Hollywood, and online entertainment.
The festivities are divided into two major segments: the traditional pre-match closing ceremony and the first-ever FIFA World Cup halftime show.
Post Malone headlines the pre-match closing ceremony, joined by Robbie Williams, Nicole Scherzinger, Laura Pausini, and popular streamer IShowSpeed.

“We are thrilled to have so many stars taking to the pitch, from both the football and entertainment worlds,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said earlier. “The closing ceremony will set the tone for a historic FIFA World Cup final, uniting the passion of 48 teams, 16 host cities and millions of fans on one unforgettable stage.”
The pre-match festivities will also include a special appearance by Tom Cruise and a performance of the U.S. national anthem by Jennifer Hudson.
Additionally, the tournament’s first-ever halftime show features co-headliners Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, and BTS. This 11-minute performance is curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin and includes appearances by Burna Boy and Gustavo Dudamel.
