With just 48 hours to go until their playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks have a sudden issue on their hands: Starting quarterback Sam Darnold is dealing with an injury.
Darnold was a full participant in practice for the previous two days but emerged on the injury report with an oblique injury today. He is now considered "questionable" to play against the Seahawks with his injury.
If the injury is worse than it sounds and Darnold cannot play at all, the next man up in Seattle is journeyman Drew Lock.
Lock it in
Lock is in his seventh year in the NFL after going 42nd overall to the Denver Broncos in the 2019 NFL Draft. He showed some promise as a rookie, going 4-1 as a starter, but regressed upon becoming the full-time starter in 2020 and has won just six of his last 23 starts.
This is actually Lock's second stint with the Seahawks after going 1-1 for them in 2023.
Last year Lock was a backup for the New York Giants, going 1-4 and completing 59.1-percent of his passes for 1,071 yards and six touchdowns with five interceptions in eight games.
This year Lock was brought back but only saw a little bit of action as Darnold played at an MVP level. He appeared in five games and completed two of three passes.

It goes without saying that the Seahawks' odds of winning decrease pretty dramatically in a would-be switch from Darnold to Lock.
Will Lock be pushed into the starting lineup for the Seahawks, or will Darnold heal up before Saturday's playoff game?
