One of the final matches today of the first matchday 3 is Czechia vs. Mexico at Mexico City Stadium. Mexico returns to the Mexico City Stadium following the 2026 World Cup opening match against South Africa.
Mexico has already qualified for the knockout stages and will finish first in Group A regardless of the result tonight.
Czechia is in need of three points to have a chance at qualifying for the next round, or else they will be eliminated from the competition.
The referee in charge of this match is the Argentine referee Yael Falcon Perez. Tonight is not his first match of the 2026 World Cup after officiating the Sweden vs. Tunisia match earlier in the tournament.

Yael Falcon Perez became a FIFA referee in 2022 and has been positioned as one of the best referees in the CONMEBOL region.
Perez has officiated games in the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. He was part of the FIFA Club World Cup last year as well.
For the match tonight, Perez will be accompanied by a South American group of assistant referees.
