Shinsuke Nakamura’s mystery partner has finally been revealed, and WWE fans now know him as “Kyoki.” The man behind the new name is former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Hiromu Takahashi, who officially arrived in WWE during the August 21, 2026, episode of SmackDown.
“King of Strong Style” had spent several weeks teasing that someone would join him in his pursuit of the WWE Tag Team Championship. The mystery was finally solved in a pre-recorded video package, where Takahashi introduced himself under his new WWE ring name and immediately made his intentions clear.
The reveal also established the identity of Nakamura and Takahashi’s new partnership. The two referred to themselves as “Bakusai,” a name that could become the official identity of the team after WWE recently filed a trademark for the term.

Kyoki is the new WWE ring name of Hiromu Takahashi, one of the most recognizable Japanese wrestlers of his generation. Born on December 4, 1989, in Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan, Takahashi spent 16 years with NJPW before making the move to WWE.
Takahashi’s WWE arrival had been anticipated for months after he announced his departure from NJPW in February 2026. He left behind a decorated career in which he became one of the defining figures of the company’s junior heavyweight division.
His journey began in the NJPW Dojo, where he made his professional debut in 2010. He later gained valuable international experience during excursions to Mexico and the United States. In Mexico, he competed as Kamaitachi and captured the CMLL World Lightweight Championship.
After returning to NJPW in 2016, Takahashi joined Los Ingobernables de Japón and became a major star. He won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship five times, along with the IWGP Tag Team Championship and a NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship reign.
What Did Kyoki Say During His WWE SmackDown Debut?
The reveal came during a video package featuring Nakamura and Kyoki, with the pair directing their attention toward WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga.
“MFT, for weeks I have warned you but you haven’t been listening,” Nakamura said. “Well, what’s in the dark has finally come to light.”
Kyoki then introduced himself to WWE fans and explained why he had arrived.
“I am Kyoki. After spending years competing around the world, finally, I have arrived in WWE. Champions, legends, monsters, I don’t care. The stronger they are, the more fun I have.”
Nakamura followed by describing the attitude of his new partner. “He doesn’t fear chaos. He enjoys it.”
Kyoki then laid out his priorities in WWE. “More fights. More gold. More madness.”
Nakamura warned the champions that their reign could soon be in danger.
“MFT, you have the championships… for now. When strong style and madness collide there will be an explosion. The clock is ticking.” Kyoki then shouted, “Bakusai!”
The name could be significant beyond the promo. WWE recently filed a trademark for “Bakusai,” suggesting it could become the official name of Nakamura and Kyoki’s team.
What’s Next for Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki?
The WWE Tag Team Championship appears to be the obvious target for Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki. “King of Strong Style” had already spent weeks warning the MFTs, and the arrival of his mystery partner gives him the numbers needed to pursue the champions.
However, WWE has not announced when Kyoki will make his official in-ring debut. Nakamura has also been absent from in-ring competition since May, when Talla Tonga defeated him on SmackDown.
That leaves the next step unclear, but the direction of the storyline is easy to identify. WWE has positioned Nakamura and Kyoki against the reigning tag team champions, with “Bakusai” potentially becoming the name attached to the new alliance.
