Tristan Peters hit for the cycle on Friday night and was named an American League All-Star the very next morning, giving the Chicago White Sox outfielder back-to-back milestones heading into the break.
The White Sox announced Peters' first career All-Star selection Saturday, July 11, less than 24 hours after he went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-1 win over the Athletics at Guaranteed Rate Field. It capped a 48-hour stretch unlike anything in Peters' young career.
Peters completed the cycle in the seventh inning with a headfirst slide into third to beat the relay throw on an RBI triple. The sequence also included a double in the third, a run-scoring single in the fifth and a two-run homer earlier in the seventh.
"When I hit the ball, I was thinking three," Peters said. He became the first White Sox player to hit for the cycle since Jose Abreu on September 9, 2017, and the fifth player in MLB history to do it from the No. 9 spot in the batting order.
Peters, 26, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Southern Illinois University. He made his big-league debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2025 before being traded to Chicago in December. Born in Winkler, Manitoba, he is one of the few Canadian players currently on an MLB roster.

Through 89 games this season, Peters is batting .303 with seven home runs, 43 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. The All-Star selection rewards a breakout campaign that has helped push Chicago to first place in the American League Central.
The White Sox are 49-45 and first in the AL Central, percentage points ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. Peters will represent Canada at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia when the All-Star Game takes place on July 14.
