The Chicago White Sox made a roster move immediately after their 7-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians. The team reinstated right-handed pitcher Tyler Davis from the bereavement list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
The White Sox announced the move on X following Monday’s victory at Progressive Field.
Davis had been away from the team after being placed on the bereavement list. Rather than returning him directly to the major league bullpen, Chicago opted to send him back to Charlotte.
The right-hander has spent time between the White Sox and their Triple-A affiliate this season. He has posted a 2-3 record with a 3.52 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 30.2 innings across 29 relief appearances.
Davis has also recorded 26 strikeouts and one save in his major league work this season.
The move comes at an important point for Chicago. The White Sox improved to 76-73 with Monday’s win and moved into first place in the American League Central.
Cleveland dropped to 76-74, leaving the Guardians just half a game behind Chicago. The division race is now entering its final stretch with very little separating the two teams.

For Davis, the assignment to Charlotte gives him a chance to get back into a regular routine after his time away from the club. It also keeps him available as organizational pitching depth if Chicago needs another arm.
The White Sox will continue their series against Cleveland with the division lead on the line. Davis will now wait for his next opportunity with the major league club.
